Austin Chapter Second Friday Breakfast: How to Create a One Man Show with the Art of Storytelling
Please join us as we welcome Marlon Hargrave to this month's Second Friday Breakfast. Marlon is a veteran actor, teaching artist, and acting coach. He has starred in notable plays such as “Top Dog Underdog” and “MacBeth” and has performed on stages in New York, Los Angeles, Atlanta, and Virginia. He has also appeared in movies and television series streaming on Amazon Prime. His directing credits include “A Raisin in the Sun” and “Nat’s Last Struggle”.
As an acting coach, he currently has students starring in top-ranking TV series on Netflix, and movies on BET, and Amazon Prime. Marlon employs his teaching artist skills for summer camps, after-school programs, and adjunct teaching. He also trains poets, comedians, writers, singers, rappers, storytellers, and public speakers in performance enhancement techniques.
Storytelling is on the fast track to becoming the #1 way for artists to get their message heard. Creating a One Man Show can utilize current skills and talents to enhance visibility and notoriety in the industry. This talk will show attendees how to convert their life story into a memorable performance.

Join your fellow Texas McCombs alumni at the Nuggets game on Thursday, March 30, against the New Orleans Pelicans. Tip-off is at 8 p.m., but we will set up a group reservation at 6:30 p.m. at the Breckinridge Mountain House at Ball Arena. Seating is limited, so requests will be handled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Insiya Hussain is an Assistant Professor of Management at McCombs School of Business. Her research focuses on the challenges and opportunities that employees encounter when speaking up to share ideas and opinions, advocate social issues, and negotiate for personal rewards.
