Shiva Agarwal is an assistant professor of management at The University of Texas at Austin’s McCombs School of Business. She teaches students in the Canfield Business Honors Program capstone course, emphasizing the importance of strategy and its successful execution.

Before entering academia, Agarwal was a software developer for Microsoft and a consultant for Boston Consulting Group. Both positions have influenced her research into strategies used by companies in platform-based ecosystems and the role of interdependent structures in explaining the performance of a complementor.

Agarwal earned a Ph.D. in management from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and she received an M.S. in managerial science and applied economics from the Indian School of Business.
