Welcome from Dean PlattDean Platt

Welcome to one of the world’s great undergraduate business degree programs. The McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin has been preparing students for the world of commerce since 1912. Our deep roots in the Texas soil have yielded Top-10 programs in traditional disciplines like finance, accounting and marketing, and our connection to businesses in the dynamic, high-tech hub of Austin continually reminds us of the need to adapt to the ever-changing world of business and technology. So we also offer programs in areas such as management information systems, supply chain management, and science and technology management.

But earning your undergraduate degree isn’t just about getting a job in business. It’s also about growing into the very best person you can be, developing knowledge of yourself and the world around you so that you can make a positive contribution to society. And that’s where being part of UT Austin has a big impact. The tremendous diversity of a large research university allows access to leading thinkers in many, many different areas of study, and the ability to follow your interests where they take you.

McCombs helps link business study and personal growth with programs that merge concepts from both. These include our wide variety of international programs that use our partnerships with leading business schools around the world to help you understand the global context of business, and our Leadership Program that, over four years, builds on your classroom learning to help you develop the skills to lead others. And don’t forget about our 34 student organizations, which give you an opportunity to put those leadership skills into practice.

So come join us, and start building a life and career of distinction. Take a look around our site to get a feel for who we are and what we offer. You might want to start here with the McCombs Prospective Student homepage that provides an excellent overview of what our programs offer, and guidance on how to navigate the admissions process. And if you have any questions and can’t find the answer, click here and our Peer Advisors will help you find the answer.

Oh, and one last thing. If you come to UT Austin, you get to be a Longhorn…’nuf said!  Hook ‘em Horns!!
