From Our Co-Presidents

A key moment that kickstarted our MBA and HIF journey was meeting each other at the National Black MBA Conference. As we ran around from meeting to meeting, talking to various healthcare companies, we ended up in the same conversation multiple times. It became clear that we had similar thoughts about the industry, and the conversation evolved to how we wanted to create impact in healthcare, within and outside of McCombs.

From there, we started working closely together, especially through our own recruiting process. We learned a lot along the way: what works, what doesn’t, and how much easier it is when you don’t navigate it alone. That experience is exactly what we want to pass on. Our first commitment to you is to help you land where you want to be, whether that’s a health system, a biotech, a digital health startup, or something you’re still figuring out. We’ve been in your shoes, and we’re here to make that journey less daunting.

Beyond recruiting, we also want to grow the healthcare community here in Austin and across UT. The more people we bring together – clinicians, operators, investors, policy strategists, and especially those curious about making an impact in healthcare – the richer this experience becomes for everyone.
Welcome! We’re glad you’re here, and we can’t wait to keep building this community with you.

Hook’em,

Lucie & Jerin
Healthcare Innovation Fellows, Co-Presidents

Innovation + Healthcare = McCombs
The purpose of the Texas MBA Health Innovation Fellows is to promote Texas McCombs as a producer of visionaries who will positively impact the healthcare industry through creativity and leadership. The Health Innovation Fellows provide an avenue for students to experience in-depth healthcare programming, dissecting and debating the complexities of the U.S. healthcare system beyond the classroom.

Board Members

Jerin Monkottayil (Co-President)

I am passionate about improving better healthcare awareness and access to communities across the world. Having spent the last 5 years leading global strategic life sciences and public health initiatives, I am excited to learn and brainstorm innovations targeting the US healthcare system. As a Health Innovation Fellow, I look forward to working alongside the McCombs and broader Austin healthcare community to create meaningful impact.

Lucie Drevet (Co-President)

Originally from Paris, France, my background is in AI and data engineering, but healthcare has always been the industry I kept coming back to. There's something about the intersection of technology and human health that I find endlessly compelling. Joining HIF felt like a natural next step, a chance to finally immerse myself in an industry I've been drawn to for years, learn from people with such different roles and perspectives within it, and help build a community where others can do the same.

Parita T. Suwan, MD (VP of Communications & Events)

I’m a physician-scientist currently pursuing my MBA at the McCombs School of Business, with a background in dermatology research and medical device innovation at Massachusetts General Hospital. I’m passionate about advancing technologies in the medical aesthetic device industry and translating clinical insight into scalable business solutions. Through Health Innovation Fellows, I hope to bring together clinicians, scientists, and entrepreneurs working to shape the future of healthcare.

Andrew Chappo (VP of Finance)

I’m a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point and a former Deloitte consultant. I’m focused on understanding how health systems operate and where process breakdowns create unnecessary work for clinicians. Currently, I’m building a health tech startup that helps physicians automate administrative tasks and streamline operations.

Andrew Looney (VP of Recruitment)

I am passionate about making healthcare more affordable and accessible. Having spent the past seven years working in health insurance and government healthcare consulting, I’m excited to continue exploring innovative solutions that improve how care is delivered and experienced. As a Health Innovation Fellow, I look forward to helping grow a community of McCombs students dedicated to shaping the future of healthcare.

Mayank Pandey (VP of Alumni Affairs)

Before McCombs, I spent my career at the intersection of strategy and high-growth industries. At ZS Associates, I advised Fortune 500 Medtech companies on GTM and M&A strategies, sales force optimization, and commercial effectiveness across the US and EU, giving me a deep understanding of how healthcare companies scale and create value. I then moved into tech strategy at Spinny, a unicorn marketplace, where I got hands-on experience building operational playbooks in a fast-moving, venture-backed environment. At McCombs, I'm channeling both threads (healthcare domain expertise and tech/growth-stage operating experience) toward a post-MBA career in healthcare investing and digital health strategy. The Healthcare Innovation Club has been a natural home for that: it's where I'm staying plugged into emerging trends in care delivery, health tech, and value-based models, while building relationships with investors, founders, and operators who are reshaping the space. It sharpens my lens on where capital and innovation are converging in healthcare, exactly the intersection I want to operate in long-term.

Nick Ferris (VP of External Relations)

I am a first year MBA student at the University of Texas at Austin and a former oil and gas operations engineer who is now focused on healthcare innovation and medical technology. After sustaining a spinal cord injury, I developed a deep interest in improving the systems, technologies, and care pathways that shape the lives of people with disabilities. I joined Healthcare Innovation Fellows to collaborate with others who are passionate about building solutions that improve patient outcomes and drive meaningful change in healthcare.
