McCombs Summer Institute for the Business Minor

Tuesday, May 31 - Friday, July 22, 2022   

The McCombs Summer Institute for the Business Minor (MSI) uses classroom instruction and simulation learning to immerse students in the core competencies of business. This intensive eight-week, 15-credit-hour program features:

  • Five Business Minor Courses (Participants in the summer institute MUST take ALL five courses listed below. The classes are integrated, and admission to the program requires enrollment in all required courses):     
    • ACC 310f Foundations of Accounting
    • LEB 320f Foundations of Business Law
    • FIN 320f Foundations of Finance
    • MAN 320f Foundations of Organizational Behavior 
    • MKT 320f Foundations of Marketing
  • Innovative instruction
  • Stock market and business plan simulations
  • Team building and leadership opportunities
  • Personal and professional development
  • Resume and business communication workshops
  • Mock interviews

All students currently enrolled in U.S. and select international colleges and universities are eligible to apply.

Program Costs

  • Total cost of the Summer 2022 program, including textbooks, is $5,400 and is financial aid-eligible. Scholarship opportunities are also available.
  • The first round of program admission will be made by the beginning of spring semester to eligible students. Applicants with at least a 3.0 GPA will be considered for admission if applications are received by December 1. 
  • Cost does not include access to some University services, including but not limited to RecSports and UT Libraries. 

Registration

  • Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. 
  • Once selected, students are asked to submit a $500.00 non-refundable deposit to secure their spot.
  • 60% of the total tuition is due by April 1.
  • Another 20% of the total tuition is due by May 1.
  • The remaining tuition balance is due by June 1.
