Executive Seminars

Two students working together

Your time in the program includes four Executive Seminars (one per semester) that build a strong sense of community among students. Before diving into your first fall courses, you’ll spend a week in Austin at your first Executive Seminar. During this required residency, you’ll meet your new classmates, professors, the dean, and tour the campus. You’ll be teamed with your cohorts, prepare for your first executive challenge, and be provided with a clear framework for the upcoming intensive study of financial accounting, statistics and decision analysis, and leading people and organizations.

In your final semester in the program, you will participate in an International Seminar to tour companies and meet with local business leaders to gain perspective on how business is conducted in other parts of the world. In past semesters, this seminar has taken students to Beijing, China

The summer offers plenty of options to continue your first year’s momentum. Consider completing your elective requirement by taking any of these popular courses offered only to Executive MBA students—Advocacy, New Venture Creation, and Financial Markets & Institutions—or any elective offered at UT Austin.

As an alternative, you can spend an intensive three days studying public policy through our Washington Campus residency elective. Or you grab your passport and take a Global Study Tour with Texas Full-Time MBAs to see the world economy up close. Or you can simply take the summer off, if you complete your electives during the long semester, and re-energize for the fall.
