Mission in Action

  • Centennial

In 2022, we celebrated 100 years of McCombs’ excellence in business with on- and off-campus events. We kicked off a year of commemoration with ourCentennial Celebration, followed by many on- and off-campus events that highlighted McCombs milestone moments since the school was established in 1922.

    Voices of McCombs

During the Centennial Homecoming event, NationalPublic Radio’s StoryCorps service helped capture stories of students, faculty, alumni, and staff who have been impacted by the McCombs experience.
  • Gift and Estate Planning

Gift planning is one of the most powerful ways you can help McCombs. Many people tend to associate this type of philanthropy only with wills, estates, and legacies, and may assume that the benefits flow in just one direction. In fact, a planned gift can be extremely flexible, include many tax advantages, and provide you with reliable lifetime income while ultimately directing valuable resources to McCombs.

  • Remembering Red

The McCombs School of Business namesake, Red McCombs, left an indelible mark on the college for decades before his death in February 2022. His $50 million investment spurred the college’s renaming the business school in his honor. Alongside his other philanthropic efforts, providing opportunities for students to make a difference in the business community was near and dear to his heart.
  • Light the Tower

On the day of Red McCombs’ memorial service, UT lit the tower in his honor, a tribute of the highest honor.

Tributes to Red McCombs blanketed the web after his death, among them a special tribute on the McCombs website, as well as during the First Annual Scholarship Appreciation Dinner when Regent Rad Weaver, close friend and mentee, recalled special times with his dear friend to Dean Mills.
