Real Estate Minor
Bring Your Own Passion
You belong here! The real estate minor is available to all full-time UT undergraduates in business and non-business majors. Bring your enthusiasm and make it happen.
Real Estate Minor
The Real Estate Minor is open to all current undergraduate students at UT Austin—not just business majors. Whether you’re studying economics, urban studies, engineering, or architecture, this minor provides a strong foundation in commercial real estate, with coursework focused on investment, development, and market analysis.
Combined with co-curricular programming from the Real Estate Center—including industry panels, site tours, and networking events—this minor helps students build the knowledge and connections to land top internships and jobs.
Student Perspectives
Commercial real estate plays a huge role in our society, and I want to be knowledgeable about the sector. Pursuing an Architectural Engineering Major with a Minor in Real Estate gives me the opportunity to join my passion for architecture with the business side of commercial real estate. The Real Estate Center has offered opportunities to travel and meet with different CRE companies to expand my knowledge even more.

Student Perspectives
What I love about the CRE industry is the culture and the tangible nature of property. It is very exciting how one can create value in places that you can visit and interact with yourself. The Real Estate Center has been amazing in enhancing my experience with both people and places by providing opportunities to connect and hear from the very best as well as visit properties to learn about value creation on the ground.

Student Perspectives
I got involved with the Real Estate Center to explore the world of commercial real estate. My involvement gave me opportunities to attend networking events, panels, and even treks to New York and LA for company visits and conferences. These experiences allowed me to grow my understanding of the industry, connect with new people, and opened the door for career opportunities. I am so grateful for the Real Estate Center team for their willingness and diligence in helping me and fellow students expand our knowledge of the commercial real estate industry.
Josie Trent | BBA, Finance
Student Perspectives
I'm drawn to commercial real estate because of its potential for growth and the opportunity to make a tangible impact on the community. I was immersed in commercial real estate from a young age, often accompanying my dad to construction sites in India. This early exposure instilled in me a deep passion for the industry's dynamic nature and pay-for-performance model.
