Dr. Anitesh Barua is the Director of the Information Management Program and the Associate Director of the Center for Research on Electronic Commerce in the McCombs School of Business, The University of Texas at Austin. He is also an Associate Professor of Information Systems and Spurgeon Bell Centennial Fellow. He received his PhD in Information Systems from Carnegie Mellon University in 1991.

Professor Barua’s research and teaching interests are in the areas of measuring the business value of IT investments, organizational information and knowledge sharing, and electronic markets. His research has been funded by both government agencies and the private sector, including the National Science Foundation, Ernst and Young, IBM, and Lucent Technologies. He has published over 30 articles in refereed journals and conferences. He has also organized and lectured in numerous executive education seminars and workshops for Fortune 500 organizations.

Dr. Barua has received several awards for his teaching and research including the 2001 Piper Professor Award, 2000 University of Texas Academy of Distinguished Teachers, 1991 William D. Cooper Doctoral Dissertation Award in Management and Management Science from Carnegie Mellon University, and the 1994 CBA Foundation Advisory Council Teaching Award for Assistant Professors from the University of Texas at Austin.
