Ed Salvato

Writer and consultant Ed Salvato teaches the principles of marketing to students at The University of Texas at Austin’s UTNY program in New York, within UT’s McCombs School of Business. An expert in LGBTQ travel, Salvato has clients including executives seeking to learn how to market to gay and other diverse communities with understanding, authenticity, and respect.

Salvato has visited more than 75 countries and writes for a wide variety of print and digital publications. He was editor-in-chief of the gay travel magazines Out&About, OUT Traveler and ManAboutWorld. Co-author of the Handbook of LGBT Tourism and Hospitality: A Guide for Business Practice, Salvato has launched apps, websites, and social campaigns. He is also a professional public speaker and panel moderator.

Salvato teaches tourism marketing; travel trends; the travel and tourism system; and diversity, equity and inclusion for hospitality and tourism as an adjunct instructor at the New York University’s School of Professional Studies. He has been a guest lecturer at Temple University’s School of Sport, Tourism, and Hospitality Management and at the Center for Sustainable Tourism at Arizona State University. He was elected to the board of directors of the International LGBTQ+ Travel Association (IGLTA), serving as treasurer and as a member of the development, election, and finance committees. Salvato was earlier appointed to the board of the IGLTA Foundation.

He has a B.A. in applied mathematics and economics from Harvard University and an MBA in market research from the D'Amore-McKim School of Business at Northeastern University.
