Mellie Price is director of the Jon Brumley Texas Venture Labs and an assistant professor of instruction at The University of Texas at Austin’s McCombs School of Business. She teaches graduate and doctoral students the academic fundamentals of entrepreneurship and practical skills required to advance business opportunities from conception to product launch.

Price also brings her venture capital and business leadership expertise to Texas McCombs as the executive director of Texas McCombs’ Master of Science in Technology Commercialization program.

As founder and CEO of Front Gate Solutions and Front Gate Tickets, Price disrupted the ticketing industry when her innovative software platform, grown from a $15,000 bootstrapped investment to over $70 million in revenue, was acquired by Live Nation. She also founded Source Spring Fund, a boutique consultancy managing a growing portfolio of angel investments and other entrepreneurial activity. Moreover, Price co-founded and serves as a lead mentor, managing director, and former general partner of Capital Factory, which has invested over $30 million in Texas startups.

Price earned an M.S. in technology commercialization with honors from Texas McCombs and a B.S. in biology from UT Austin’s College of Natural Sciences.
