Undergraduate Technology@McCombs
Welcome to the Technology portion of Orientation.
Technology is an important part of the learning environment at
McCombs. The college has a sophisticated network and provides students
with valuable resources, such as 24-hour computer labs, McCombs email
accounts, and wireless internet access throughout our buildings.
This site contains three modules that will introduce you to various
technology resources available to you.
Are you an Internal Transfer student? Internal Transfer
students (those transferring from another UT Austin college, or those
changing their majors from non-business to business) will be required to
complete an on-line technology session between August 23rd and September
12th. You will receive an e-mail with details about how to access this
training a week before the fall semester begins. You should not go
through these modules at this time.
Take these steps before you begin the modules.
1. You must know your UT EID to begin the modules.
Visit the UT
EID Self Service Tools if you have forgotten your UT EID login or
password.
2. Get your McCombs Computer Account (or MSB Account). This account is provided by the McCombs School of Business. You'll learn more about this account in the modules.
3. Print out the Tech Orientation guide. It will be helpful to you for keeping notes and using as a future reference tool.
When going through the modules, here are a few things to keep in mind.
1. If you want to hear the spoken voice, you should
turn on your computer speakers or plug in earphones.
2. The first time you go through the modules, you must go through it
sequentially. After you complete all three modules, you will be able to
come back to the modules and use the left navigation to go directly to
any page. This is helpful if you want to be reminded about any of the
topics covered.
3. At the end of the modules, you will be able to download links to the
all the websites discussed in the site. After downloading, read the
instructions for adding these bookmarks to your Internet Explorer
Favorites or Firefox Bookmarks.
