Information for Prospective Students
We appreciate your interest in the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin. The McCombs School of Business has a rich history of providing students with a first-class business education. Our undergraduate business program has an outstanding national reputation as a top ten undergraduate business program in the United States (U.S. News & World Report 2008, BusinessWeek 2008). The School’s five departments offer ten different majors which have also been recognized as being among the best in the country. Our national recognition reflects the quality of our outstanding faculty and staff, students, facilities, resources, and student services. We believe in quality education, facilities and teaching, and have a strong commitment to a diverse student body.
Information Sessions
Please make plans to visit our campus online through the Be a Longhorn website, a one-stop-shop for information regarding admission, housing, scholarships and student life at the University of Texas at Austin. Through the Be a Longhorn website, prospective students can also register for a freshman admission information session, walking tours of campus, and academic information sessions with specific colleges, such as the McCombs School of Business.
Group information sessions for the McCombs School of Business are held most Mondays and Fridays from 1:00 to 2:00p.m. The Business Honors Information session follows promptly at 2:00p.m.
There are three modes of admission into the McCombs School of Business, please select one of the following for more information:
Freshman
Most applicants to UT Austin apply as entering freshmen. You should
do the same, if you:
- Graduated from an accredited high school and
- Have not enrolled in another college or university before applying to UT Austin. (You may apply as an entering freshman if you took college courses only while in high school or during the summer right after you graduated from high school.)
External Transfer
Students attending other universities or colleges outside the University of Texas at Austin.
Internal Transfer
Current University of Texas at Austin students interested in transferring into the McCombs School of Business.
