Career Management Services

Our career management team provides a variety of resources to our students to help them prepare for a rigorous recruiting season. We guide students through the entire recruiting process, including tailoring their resume for technical careers, practicing for interviews, connecting students with employers and networking events, and more.

Personalized Career Coaching

Each MSITM student is paired with a dedicated career coach who understands the technical recruiting landscape and expectations for early-career technology roles. Coaching is tailored to help students:

  • Explore career paths that an MSITM degree opens up, including engineering, product management, and consulting

  • Position and market their technical skills in programming, cloud platforms, artificial intelligence, and machine learning to potential employers

  • Translate coursework, hands-on development work, and capstone projects into professional experience for resumes, cover letters and LinkedIn profiles

This personalized approach ensures students can clearly communicate both what they’ve built and the business value of their work.

Workshops and career education

MSITM career education is designed around the hiring processes for technical roles. Workshops go beyond general career preparation to focus on role-specific and technical skill development. Programming includes:

  • Technical interview preparation (coding, system design, and architecture)
  • Product management interview frameworks (product sense, execution, and strategy)
  • Consulting and technology strategy case interviews
  • Resume, LinkedIn, and GitHub portfolio development

Sessions are frequently delivered in collaboration with industry professionals, providing direct insight into how candidates are evaluated in technical hiring processes.

Networking and recruiting opportunities

The career management team connects students directly with employers seeking talent in AI, cloud computing, and software development. Our campus is the heart of Austin, TX — one of the nation’s major hubs for tech jobs — providing access to leading technology companies, consulting firms, and high-growth startups. These connections are designed to align directly with the roles MSITM students are trained to pursue. Employer engagement opportunities include:

  • Panels and guest lectures featuring industry speakers from engineering, product, and data teams

  • Access to the MSITM advisory council, a group of alumni and industry partners offering mentorship to current students, alongside other corporate partners

  • Career fairs and recruiting events where students can connect with firms hiring for roles in consulting, tech, AI engineering, and more
