Career Management Services

In addition to teaching the skills needed to thrive in careers in business and information technology, a Texas McCombs Master of Science in Information and Technology Management degree helps prepare students for the step from graduate school into the professional world. Our career management team provides a variety of resources to our students to help them prepare for the rigorous recruiting season.

Career Coaching

Each MSITM student is paired with a career coach for one-on-one coaching throughout the program. Topics for career coaching appointments include:

  • Career exploration and research

  • Career transition guidance

  • Job search strategies

  • Cover letter, resume, or LinkedIn reviews

  • Interview preparation (mock and case)

  • Networking and recruiter outreach

  • Offer evaluation and negotiation

MSITM Workships and Events

Throughout the semester, the career management team hosts events for students to strengthen their professional connections, including tech-focused career education, networking, guest speaker events and workshops taught industry partners and career coaches. Past MSITM career events include case interview prep with author David L. Ohrvall, job closing tips with senior career consultant Steve Dalton, and product manager interviewing with Lewis C. Lin.

MS Career Fridays

Every Friday during the semester is dedicated to career development and discovery. No formal classes are held to give students time to attend alumni and employer networking events, including the McCombs Career Expo and MS Career Pathways sessions.
