
Students will participate in a 6-week summer internship providing management and marketing consulting services to Pravah – a school for social entrepreneurs in India. Participants will advance Pravah’s mission by enhancing its HR processes, developing training modules for internal staff, and researching and creating marketing materials. Participants will work primarily at the Pravah office in New Delhi and will gain both practical experience in consulting and an understanding of how succeed in a global environment.

Who is eligible for this program
This opportunity is open to all undergraduate and graduate students in any major, and is a particularly good fit for those studying international business, marketing, management, international relations, or related subjects. There is no language requirement for this program, but applicants should be in good standing with the university with a minimum in-residence GPA of 3.00 or higher.

2. Submit Application Documents

- a statement of interest, explaining your qualifications and how you plan to prepare for the internship
- a copy of your resume, highlighting applicable experience and skills
3. Request Letters of Recommendation
Applicants are required to submit two letters of recommendation
- one professional letter of recommendation (from an employer or mentor)
- one academic letter of recommendation (from anyone who has taught you at the university-level, including TAs)

What will I get out of this program?
In a transformative international internship that blends professional development, cross-cultural immersion, and real-world impact, participants will gain:
Hands-On Experience: Working directly with Pravah to solve organizational challenges, participants will build and deepen their expertise by applying consulting methodologies to real-world practice.
Cross-Cultural Understanding: Working in the distinct cultural landscape of India, participants will develop cross-cultural understanding and communication tools and cultivate the global mindset that will help them adapt wherever their careers take them.
Who will I be working with? What will I be doing?
The team will be comprised of 6-8 undergraduate students and 2 graduate students, who will serve as team leads for the project. Team members will be chosen from program applicants to ensure diversity in both perspective and skillsets.
Participants will provide consulting services to Pravah to:
- Develop digital solutions to optimize processes, enhance data management, and highlight evidence-based impact stories
- Strengthen HR processes and align those processes with organizational objectives and expansion plans
- Design and develop internal training modules focused on professional and management skills
- Conduct marketing research and develop marketing materials for Pravah programs
How much does the program cost?
The total estimated cost for participating in this program is $5,569. This includes:
- A Program Fee of $2,800, which covers housing, meals, weekend excursions, and local transporation.

- UT Application Fee ($60) & UT ISR Fee ($600)
- Insurance ($19/week) & Medical Fee ($35)
- Passport ($180) & Visa ($40)
These costs are subject to change depending on your personal circumstances, but this is generally what you can expect to spend on this program.
About the Program Fee
The program fee covers the essentials for your six-week stay in India to make the process easier and to free you up to focus on getting the most out of your time abroad. Specifically, the Program Fee includes:
- Apartment housing for 6 weeks alongside your fellow participants in Kalkajik, in South Delhi near the Pravah offices
- Meal service via “tiffin delivery services, including 3 meals/day for your first week, and 2/meals a day after that.
- Weekend excursions, including transportation, meals, and entrance fees.
- Local transportation, including daily transportation to/from Pravah and service to/from the airport.
Half of the program fee will be due as a non-refundable deposit on March 1st, with the balance due prior to travel on May 1st.
When will the program take place?
The program will take place for 6 weeks, from late May to early July, 2025, with specific dates to be determined based on participant and partner needs.
Who will be overseeing the program in India?
The program will be overseen in India by Dr. Kishore Gawande, Chair of the Business, Government, and Society Department at McCombs, and Pravah Program Coordinator Sidra tul Muntaha (MSW) will act as project liaison. Peacework Field Leadre Deepti Sachdev will also be on-site to help assist with any logistical concerns.
What kind of preparation will I RECEIVE?
Participants will attend three sessions designed to orient them to the upcoming internship, introduce them to Pravah and its mission, and prepare them for living in India for the summer.
Dates of these sessions are TBD and will be scheduled in accordance with team needs.
Participants will also need to complete documentation required by UT’s Education Abroad office, as well as a Learning Agreement with Pravah that will outline in detail the scope of work and mutual expectations.
Wil lthere be opportunties for local travel?
Of course – participants will be working full time, but there will still be time for local travel! To help make that happen, the program includes a weekend trip to the Taj Mahal as well as a second (local) excursion TBD. These trips will be in addition to site visits, which will make up part of the workweek at Pravah.
Participants are also be encouraged to engage in their own local, weekend travel across the region.
Where will I be living and working?
Pravah’s offices are located in Kalkaji – a vibrant neighborhood located in South Delhi known for its rich cultural heritage, excellent connectivity, and residential appeal.
The neighborhood is home to both Kalkaji Mandir (a revered Hindu shrine over 250 years old) and the iconic Lotus Temple (a major tourist attraction). It’s well-connected by metro (served by three metro stations) and known for being safe, well-maintained, and family-friendly.
Accommodations for program participants will be arranged in apartment housing near the Pravah offices.
