Application Process

Applying to a Ph.D. program can be a complicated and daunting task, and we strive to make applying as straightforward as possible.

HOW TO APPLY

For all applicants, it involves a multi-step process that involves admission to both The University of Texas Graduate School and the Texas McCombs Doctoral Program.

The University of Texas Graduate School

  1. Log into Apply Texas and complete the appropriate online application
  2. Pay the Application Fee (U.S. $65/ International $90). U.S. applicants who meet select criteria may qualify for a fee waiver. To see if you may be eligible for a fee waiver, please complete the Qualtrics Survey.
  3. Submit your transcripts
  4. Submit your GRE/GMAT Test Scores. If you do not have a valid GRE or GMAT score due to COVID-19 related reasons, please contact the Graduate Coordinator associated with the doctoral program to which you are applying.
  5. Submit your TOEFL (International students only)
  6. Request and submit Three Letters of Recommendation

Texas McCombs Doctoral Program

  1. Log into;My Status
  2. Submit a Statement of Purpose - Statement of goals and objectives (generally about two pages in length) highlighting your particular interests in our Ph.D. program, your relevant credentials related to those interests, and your reasons for wanting to do graduate work at the University of Texas
  3. Submit your current resume
  4. Submit a supplemental Department Application Form, if required - IROM and Marketing
  5. Monitor your status at MyStatus

Quick Tips

  • Applications must be submitted online
  • Applications are accepted for admission to the fall semester only. There is no spring semester option available
  • The program is full-time in Austin, TX. There is no part-time option
  • There are no distance or online options available
  • You may not request an interview. A representative will contact those who are being considered for admission to schedule an interview
