Application Requirements

To apply to the Business Honors Program, you must:
1. Complete the steps listed in order to apply to the McCombs School of Business.
2. After you submit your ApplyTexas application (having listed “Unspecified Business” as your first choice major), you will be able to access the honors application.
3. Complete and submit your honors application.
4. List “Business Honors Program” as your first choice honors program.
5. Submit a detailed expanded resume.

6. Submit a letter or recommendation from an academic source (teacher, professor, etc.). Please note that you must use the system, which will email your recommender a request to submit their recommendation to us directly.

Phone Interviews

BHP will offer a select number of phone interviews with a BHP alumnus. Phone interviews are by invitation only. These interviews allow the admissions committee to collect additional information about the applicant that can’t be obtained through the ApplyTexas and Honors Applications. If selected for a phone interview, you will be contacted by a BHP alumnus via email.

BHP/Turing Partnership

The Business Honors Program is excited to announce a new partnership with the Turing Scholars Program, the honors program for outstanding Computer Science undergraduates at UT Austin. A very small group of elite students who are interested in dual honors majors of Business and Computer Science will be admitted under the joint BHP/Turing partnership. These students will be challenged through rigorous coursework in both areas of study. Students with incoming credit for calculus, economics, and other core curriculum coursework could feasibly complete both programs in four years. Students with fewer credits should expect to spend more than four years completing these two challenging degree plans, depending on whether they choose to undertake summer coursework.

To apply to both programs, select both a first and second choice major in Business and Computer Science on the ApplyTexas application (first choice major should be the one you are most interested in), and check both the BHP and Turing Scholars Honors Program boxes on the UT Online Honors Application. If you are not admitted to either program, you will still be considered for general admission to UT Austin, with foremost consideration given to the major you identify as your first choice.
