Getting Involved

Throughout the year, MS students have the opportunity to participate in volunteer opportunities, philanthropic events, and other opportunities throughout the year. With events on campus like Girl Day, The Data Open, and numerous individual speakers, our students have multiple ways to learn both in and out of the classroom. 

Utilize our events calendar to stay up to date on current events with Texas Master of Science Programs (events calendar coming soon!).

Graduation is posted each year at the bottom of this page. Information regarding graduation will become available in April of each year and will be removed from this page in June.

Post-Graduation Information


Spring graduates retain privileges the following summer with their ID up until the 12th class day of classes in the fall. These privileges include:

  • regular student check-out privileges
  • access to InterLibrary services
  • access to most University of Texas Libraries electronic resources
  • use of studies, carrels, or lockers under the guidelines that apply to enrolled students

Gym membership is valid until 5/31/18. After this, you can buy membership at the office in Gregor Gym (GRE 2.204). More details can be found here:

Student ID

Student EID and passwords remain active. You will need these to order transcripts, apply for jobs at the university, and update your contact information with the registrar's office. You can use your UTMail indefinitely. Your university ID card, Canvas, Bevo Bucks, and Campus Computer Store discounts will all be deactivated.

Apply to Graduate

Students must apply to graduate by April 13 in order to take part in the MS Programs Spring Commencement Ceremony. Apply here.


On graduation day, students must wear the traditional academic regalia in order to participate in the MS Programs Commencement Ceremony. The Masters Regalia Package, which includes cap, gown, tassel, and hood, may be purchased through the Co-Op for $65.99 plus tax. The last day to buy Master's Regalia is May 6, 2018. Regalia cannot be rented through the Co-Op.

Commencement regalia and related items may be purchased from the Graduation Department in the UT Co-Op. Please visit the Graduation Department website for purchase information and in-store. Graduation invitations may also be purchased through the UT Co-Op.

Disability Services

Services for Graduates and Visitors with Disabilities

Special services are available upon request to accommodate the needs of students and visitors with disabilities at all Commencement programs. If you need special accommodation during the ceremony, contact Danielle Thoma at least 5 days prior to Commencement. She may be reached at 512-232-3624 during normal business hours.

If you or your guest requires a sign-language interpreter at the MS Programs Commencement Ceremony, please email Allison Wilden at no later than April 15 so that arrangements can be made.


Professors at Graduation


Free parking will be available in all university parking garages as well as on most surface lots.


The MS Programs Commencement Ceremony will last approximately 2 hours beginning at 12:00 P.M. (noon). Students and guests may walk as they wish to the MS Commencement Reception at the Touchdown Club located on the 8th floor of the DKR Texas Memorial Stadium. The reception will begin at 1:30 P.M. and will last approximately 2.5 hours on a come-and-go basis.

University-Wide Ceremonies

After two days of individual recognition in college and school convocations, degree candidates from all disciplines come together at the Tower, along with their families and friends, for the crowning celebration of their academic achievement — the university-wide commencement ceremony. Graduation Caps


Diplomas are mailed approximately six weeks after graduation. Please ensure that your student information is current through the Registrar Office.
